On the Spot: Sweet Goldenrod October 17, 2008

One thing I’d like to do is get acquainted with the plants that are already growing in my garden. We won’t be so perjorative as to call them weeds. Some of them are quite lovely, like this yellow flower which seems to me to match the description of Sweet Goldenrod. I tried crushing the leaves and they did give off a pleasant scent which seemed rather like anise to me (though I don’t have much experience with it). I haven’t tried making tea with it yet.

That does look like goldenrod. Never heard of making tea with it. Some people have allergies to it – not a strong reaction, but not good. Just FYI.
